With automation and artificial intelligence increasingly prevalent in the areas of work, the future of work may look completely different from what it is today, as artificial intelligence has great potential to radically transform it, and has become omnipresent in many areas, whether routine or creative tasks. The artificial intelligence is also henceforth able to interact with humans and understand human language as it is spoken. This study presents the development of artificial intelligence and the evolution of its uses during the past decades, and examines its effects on the structure and future of the work. The paper provides an outlook for the future of work in light of these huge structural effects of artificial intelligence and automation, with reference to its employment in Arab contexts.
