Abstract

This article is an abridged translation of a book by the Israeli researcher Amnon Ramon and published by the Jerusalem Institute for Policy Studies. It discusses the position of Palestinians in Jerusalem since the Israeli annexation following its occupation of East Jerusalem in the Six Day War of 1967. It presents a broad picture of the discussion in the book, which covers historical, political and legal dimensions. The central issue of the book is how the situation of Arab residence in areas annexed by Israel has been fixed, considering the position of the Israeli leadership and Israeli society towards the Arab population in Est Jerusalem and other areas seized during the war. It focuses on the social and legal status of Arabs in East Jerusalem and the various forms it has taken in the last fifty years.
