Drawing on comparative lessons from Latin America's Treaty of Tlatelolco and Africa's Treaty of Pelindaba, this paper argues that MENWFZ prospects are constrained by several interacting obstacles to impede agreement on scope, entry into force, verification authority, and enforcement. Finally, a set of scenarios for 2025–2035 maps plausible trajectories for the future. The paper concludes with practical steps towards the establishment of a MENWFZ.
