An Attempt to Forecast the Futures of Research Work in the Social Sciences and Humanities: First Ideas

Due to the major technological, economic and geopolitical transformations during the past few decades, scientific research processes have witnessed important qualitative developments. Although these transformations were more influential and widespread in the field of "Exact Sciences", the field of "Social Sciences and Humanities" was not an exception, both in terms of research practice itself, in its structural transformations due to the generalization of the use of digital, technological and networked tools, in the quantitative research techniques and the development of Software, in facilitating continuous learning and capacity-building in the light of scientific research developments, or with regard to the impact of this research practice on several objective elements, including international classifications of researchers, universities, journals, and institutions, and increasing publishing pressures. This paper discusses the "research work" in the field of Arabic "Social Sciences and Humanities" and draws some features of its future developments.
